Matter is a small but growing startup. Our first product is an iOS app that pairs personal experience with universal neuroscience to help everyone understand what’s happening in their brain.

Our goal is to help people live healthier, happier, longer lives — for themselves and the people around them.

We’re a small, fully-remote team committed to doing our best work. For us this means balance. We work Monday through Thursday. In addition to every Friday, we offer 20 vacation days per year, plus the last week of December. Compensation includes stock options. The salary range for this full-time role is $100,000 to $140,000.

Responsibilities

Matter is growing our marketing efforts to support the upcoming launch of the Matter app on the App Store. The copywriter will tell the Matter story across social media (for now Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube), the web, and the App Store, build trust and community, and get people excited about using Matter in their daily lives. 

Here are some of the things that you’ll be up to:

  • Creating and iterating on social and other marketing content to reach new audiences with complex concepts in neuroscience

  • Shaping a cohesive narrative for a variety of marketing channels, but primarily Instagram, our website, and the App Store

  • Building community on social and the App Store by engaging with our audience and customers

  • Working cross-functionally with the product and marketing teams to craft the language that introduces people to Matter and our app

  • Collaborating with the design team to produce visually engaging work

  • Bringing an understanding of current cultural conversations, data analysis, and other insights to help grow Matter’s audience

Qualifications

College degrees and certifications, numbers of years of experience, and prestigious accolades are not required. General life experience, expertise in your area, curiosity, and generosity with skills and knowledge are more important. 

We’d love to see and hear about your experience:

  • Creating exceptional written, visual and/or audio content that inspires

  • Listening to, engaging, and growing a new audience across social platforms

  • Bringing something brand new to life in a startup environment

  • Working with brand guidelines to create beautiful, meaningful content

  • Simplifying complex scientific topics into content that a broad audience can use in their daily lives (bonus points for a research or science writing background)
