Axel Bouchon
Axel Bouchon is a biochemist, neuroscientist, author, and serial entrepreneur. Bouchon has led business ventures for large pharmaceutical companies including Bayer and Moderna. His work in pharma provided valuable insight into the limitations of medicine in the healthcare world, particularly on the growing mental health crisis.
In 2019, Bouchon published his first book, Capitalism of Happiness: Introducing a New Economic World Order that Puts Happiness at Its Core. The book imagines an economic structure that values happiness as the central measure of human progress, quantifying happiness in the form of a biomarker.
The same year, Bouchon founded Matter Neuroscience with cofounders Ben Goldhirsh and Chris Shiflett. As the founder and CEO of Matter, Bouchon partners with university collaborators who lead the clinical studies that deepen our understanding of happiness in the brain and how it impacts everyday life and overall health.
Bouchon is a father to three daughters, Marie, Lisa, and Clara, and spends his time in Berlin, New York City, and San Francisco.
